40 months prison sentence for pastor who swindled parishioners out of money

Seattle -A local pastor was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in federal prison Friday for defrauding two dozen victims out of more than $1.8 million.
The pastor, Anthony C. Morris, 48, also was ordered to pay full restitution to his victims, which included some of his own parishioners, said Emily Langlie of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Seattle. He also must serve three years of supervised release after his prison term is completed.
Morris, pastor of New Covenant Christian Center, pleaded guilty in January to wire fraud and money laundering, admitting that his fraud was a Ponzi scheme in which early investors were paid off from the money taken from later investors.
At the sentencing, U.S. District Judge Richard A. Jones told Morris that he “did not resist temptation and left a trail of victims.”
Morris apologized in court to his victims.
“I am sincerely sorry for the actions I have taken,” he said. “I take full responsibility for my actions.”
According to court documents filed in the case, Morris convinced investors to provide him money based on false representations between 2003 and April 2011.
Morris told various investors that their money would be placed in an overseas trading program, or used to invest in property for his church. He also said investments would provide a high rate of return in a short period of time, promising to return investors’ money in as little as a few days or a few weeks, with returns of up to 400 percent.
All these representations were false, prosecutors said. Morris actually used the funds from later investors to pay off earlier investors. Some of the money went for Morris’ expenses and for the expenses of his church.
In one 2007 incident described in court papers, a victim provided Morris with a $30,000 loan for investment purposes, on the promise that Morris would repay him, with interest, in 30 days. Despite repeated promises, the money was never repaid.
Prosecutors asked for a four-year prison term, noting that Morris betrayed those who trusted him.
“They were dealing with someone they believed they could trust,” prosecutors wrote in their sentencing memo. “The defendant preyed on those least likely to suspect him, demand collateral, and seek other assurances present in arms-length business transactions.”

The movie is primarily catered to women as an overall solution to figure out moreover what goes on inside of a man’s head.

What would posses a lady to think a man? What would posses a man to think like a lady? The enemy has his agenda. Obviously, the devil is father of lies. If he can a get lady to think like a man, then what comes next? Acting like a man. Some woman will say that will never happen. On the contrary, spirit attach themselves. Embracing a film of practices could open the door for the enemy to manuever. The enemy is the prince of the power of the air, and he seeks to and fro seeking whom he may devour. Sly, slick, conning yes he is. The devil will encourage many of these women to think of ways to get a man initially for marriage, but later on he will have the women desiring to become a man because their thought process has been based on “thinking like a man”.
Many women are seeking answers from the film, thinking out various ideologies of men as a means of assurance to alluring the “good men” into marriage, while avoiding the “bad ones”. The answers are not in that movie, for sure it will just make things worse.
Act like a lady, Think Like Man?
Why is the church supporting such a ridiculous agenda. The majority of these are supposed to be Christian folks supporting nasty mouth people like Steve Harvey. According to the written review of the movie, the film is based on about 4 woman manipulating men into marriage. Manipulation is witchcraft, and it’s of the devil. He who finds a wife, findeth a good thing. Women do not have to go on scavenger hunts for husbands, nor is it acceptable to look into the disastrous movie and books (think like man act like a lady) for marriage. Look inside God’s word and live holy. Women be virtuous, live holy.Women and likewise men, Present your bodies a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto the Lord Jesus Christ.
This movie made $33 million dollars in one day. Steve Harvey example is not saved, and he really does not care to be an adequate example above his money. Why is the church supporting a book on namely marriage from someone who is not saved, has kids all over the place, bitter divorces, and married again. Yet many women cleaved to stores and online sites to purchase his books as if Steve Harvey is the answer. Proverbs 9:13 advises women to avoid becoming foolish.
For anyone feeling as though the movie have the answer to have someone to marry them, the answers are not there.
The movie is based on trickery. We are living in the last days. Wickedness,premiscuity,perversion and much is going on. The love of money is root of all evil. People are running after money, above the necessity and literally worshipping it. The movie makers, hollywood directors and producers are maximizing worship of money which comes with a price (soul). For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? The main thing used against the odd to get someone to someone marry them is money, but without Christ even in that situation, the man still will not have a pure desire for his spouse, but money will be his motivation. As you have seen in recent news, against the odds many young people who marry rich people several generations older because of the love of monetary riches. The sad solution that this world gravitates to money because if lady becomes rich, men would come to marry her for that reason alone. That is Sad!

South Korean Christians Prays That Lady Gaga Concert Will Cancel

A South Korean Christian group prays that Lady Gaga’s concert in Seoul be canceled.
If you thought “Just Dance” wasn’t that great, you’re not alone. The Associated Press has released photos it says depict a South Korean Christian group praying that Lady Gaga’s April 27th concert in Seoul be canceled, on the grounds that “Just Dance” is not appropriate for public consumption.
South Koreans under the age of 18 have already banned from attending the concert, the AFP reports. Initially, the show was deemed suitable for anyone over the age of 12, but the Korean Media Rating Board upped the age of entry.
The photos, which are available for viewing in the gallery below, show members of a church group holding defaced signs of the pop singer and passionately praying.
One of the prayer rally’s organizers told the AFP that he hopes to cancel the show so that “homosexuality and pornography will not spread around the country.” Likewise, the Korean Association of Church Communication pledged to stop Korean youth from being “infected with homosexuality and pornography.”
Earlier in April, Lady Gaga tweeted hopes that the government would change its mind about the 18+ age restriction on her show. The New York Times reported that Marilyn Manson, Jay-Z and 50 Cent have had similar restrictions put on their concerts. None of the popstar’s other Asian dates have an age restriction on them.
Of course, concerts in the United States are frequently restricted to those over the ages of 18 or 21, though the availability of alcohol — not the spectre of teens becoming “infected” with homosexuality — is usually the given reason.
Gaga is launching her Born This Way Global Tour in Seoul and will then go on to perform in select other Asian cities before commencing 21-show European run. The singer arrived in the country on Friday and was spotted in a surprisingly glamorous dress with a seriously plunging neckline.

THE NAME Jesus Christ doesn’t appear in The Voice, a new translation of the Bible.
Nor do words such as angel or apostle. Instead, angel is rendered as messenger and apostle as emissary. Jesus Christ is Jesus the Anointed One or the liberating king.
Seven years in the making, The Voice is the latest US entry into the crowded field of English Bible translations.
The Voice is formatted like a screenplay or novel. Translators cut out the ”he said” and ”they said” and focused on dialogue.
When Jesus walks on the water, scaring his followers, their reaction is immediate: ( Which by the way Jesus walks on water in Matthew 14 chapter not the 15)

According to David Capes, lead scholar for The Voice, which is published by Thomas Nelson, many people, even those who’ve gone to church for years, don’t realize that the word ”Christ” is a title.
”They think that Jesus is his first name and Christ is his last name,” says Mr Capes, who teaches the New Testament at Houston Baptist University in Texas.
”I hope we get people to see the Bible not as an ancient text that’s worn out but as a story that they participate in and find their lives in,” he said.
The title for The Voice came from the New Testament book of John and from the Greek word logos. It’s usually translated as ”word” in verses such as John 1:1, which reads: ”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” in the New International Version, one of the most popular English translations.
In The Voice, that passage reads: ”Before time itself was measured, the Voice was speaking. The Voice was and is God.” Frank Couch, the executive editor and publisher of The Voice, says that translation better captures what logos means.
Mike Norris, of Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, disagrees. His congregation follows the belief that the King James Bible is the most accurate translation in English.
Other translations, he says, don’t stick to a word-for-word translation. ”They say the other translations are easier to read and more accurate,” he says. ”We disagree.”
Man Dumped His Son’s Body In Trash Can Released on A Bond?

A man accused of dumping his 2-year-old son’s body in a trash can and then filling it with 450 pounds of concrete is out on bond.According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, Roger Williams is out on a $250,000 bond on charges of homicide by child abuse. Court records state that Williams also posted bond in Charleston County where he is charged with obstruction of justice. In February, Williams’ girlfriend, Grace Trotman pleaded guilty for her part in the death of 2-year-old Rodricus Williams. The tragic story started on July 6, 2010 with reports that the boy was missing after falling in the Battery in downtown Charleston. Authorities launched a massive search for the boy who was actually never in the water. Williams, and his live-in girlfriend, Trotman, were arrested. Trotman admitted to an FBI agent that she made up the missing child story to cover up the child’s death. In an affidavit, Roger Williams acknowledged the boy had an ongoing health condition that needed to be monitored. However, when Rodricus Williams fell ill, he instructed Trotman not to contact health care providers. He admitted to investigators he did not call for medical help either. After the boy died, authorities were directed to an abandoned mobile home near Bowman in Orangeburg County where they found the body of 2-year-old Rodricus Williams. Trotman entered a guilty plea in February on charges of homicide by child abuse and desecration of human remains. She could face 20 years in jail for the death of Rodricus Williams and up to 10 years for a desecration charge.
