A Montgomery pastor says he needs your help and it won’t cost you a dime.

William McCoy was nominated for a Humanitarian Award for the National Obesity Foundation based on his charitable work in the community.

The foundation helps people become healthier. If McCoy wins the recognition, his gastric bypass surgery will be free.

“Yes, I’ve had several scares actually, The real possibility of not being here to serve the people I love to serve. I don’t want to miss an opportunity to do what God has allowed me to do,” McCoy said.

McCoy, who pastors Greater Destiny Worship Center on South Court Street, says the surgery costs around $12,000 and his insurance won’t cover it. He invites people to vote humanitarian on National Obesity Foundation for him to win it.
